Grading System

Your grade point average (GPA) will be calculated on an unweighted 4-point scale.

  • Honors sections are offered in English III, precalculus, chemistry, and physics; no extra weight given to these or AP courses in the calculation of the GPA.
  • Physical Education grades are not included in the GPA.
  • Chatham Hall does not rank its students.

All courses are college preparatory.

Graduation requirements

English: 4 years


Mathematics: 3 years


History/Social Science: 3 years (3.67 credits including U.S. History, Biblical Studies, and one trimester each of religion and ethics)


Foreign Language: through level III, or level II of two languages (French, Latin, or Spanish)


Science: 3 years (must include biology and chemistry)


Arts (fine or performing): 1 year


Physical Education: required each year
