Lucia Yang ‘25 was among more than 35,000 students who participated in the MAA AMC 12, receiving a Certificate of Distinction by scoring in the top 5% of all test takers.

Wang and Yang both scored high enough in their respective competitions to qualify for the American Invitational Mathematics Exam (AIME), which will take place in February.

According to its website, the MAA AMC program leads the nation in strengthening the mathematical capabilities of the next generation of problem-solvers by focusing on middle and high school students. Its series of examinations and curriculum materials help America’s educators identify talent and foster a love of mathematics through classroom resources and friendly competition, and positively impacts the analytical skills needed for future careers in an innovative society.
