Dr. Yun to Perform at Garth Newel Music Center Aug. 12
Chatham Hall Director of Music Dr. Francis Yun will perform a harpsichord concert on Saturday, Aug. 12 at the Garth Newel Music Center.
The performance will take place from 5:00-6:00 p.m. in Hot Springs, Va. followed by dinner. Dr. Yun will perform various pieces, including Suite No. 1 in D minor by Gaspard Le Roux; Ordre no. 6 in B-flat major by François Couperin; Suite No. 2 in F major HWV 427 by George Frederic Handel; and Capriccio sopra la lontananza del suo fratello dilettissimo BWV 992 by Johann Sebastian Bach.
Dr. Yun began playing the harpsichord while a student of piano, and soon became enamored with the expressive capabilities of the harpsichord. He has performed throughout the country in both solo and chamber recitals, and has served as a continuo player for many orchestras, including the New York Strings Orchestra, Apollo’s Fire, and Juilliard415. He has been a concerto soloist with the Garth Newel Emerging Artist Orchestra, the Birmingham Bloomfield Orchestra, and Juilliard415 and has performed in many prestigious concert halls including Avery Fisher Hall and Carnegie Hall.
