Student honored with John Locke Institute’s 2024 Global Essay Prize.
Kate W. '26 was awarded a Merit in the Theology category of the John Locke Institute’s 2024 Global Essay Prize for her essay on “Is it reasonable to thank God for protection from some natural harm if He is responsible for causing the harm?”
Her essay titled "Natural Theology" explores the concept of natural disasters in relation to God's role from a Christian vantage point. Through biblical references, she explores things in this world that do not always make sense and asserts that God's actions are not arbitrary but serve a purpose. She emphasizes that while humans often can not discern the cause of specific disasters, God is always righteous and merciful.
