Three Present at ICGS Conference

Rector Sara Stephenson attended the conference as one of the presenters on the “Heads Panel on Institutional Sustainability” on June 26. Rector Stephenson, along with the respective heads of school of the Spence School, Bryn Mawr School, and Columbus School for Girls, shared with attendees the “challenges and opportunities in fostering long-term sustainable economics” for schools, including exploring industry data and the signs of a healthy school.

On June 26, Associate Dean of Students for Wellbeing Frankie Beyer led the breakout session “Supporting Students in a New School Community: Teaching the Skills for Success,” which showcased Chatham 101, our semester-long program for New Girls. During the presentation, Beyer shared how Chatham Hall helps new students build social-emotional skills, handle stress, ask for help, and more. 

Director of Innovation & Strategic Initiatives Ed Dougherty led the “Assessment of Learning: A Small Shift to Positively Impacting Student Success” workshop on June 25, exploring the benefits of leveraging a variety of assessment methods to benefit student learning. During the session, Dougherty and audience members discussed how alternate assessment models can eradicate barriers to student participation, shift instructional pace and content, and mitigate assessment anxiety while promoting self-confidence.

During the conference, Rector Stephenson, Beyer, and Dougherty also spent time with the broader girls’ school community, shared best practices, and learned about emerging educational trends.
