Spring Break on the Ranch: A True Chatham Hall Adventure
Over spring break, Marilyn M. ’26, Nora A. ’28, Bella D. ’27, and Eva R. ’27 embarked on an unforgettable journey to New Mexico, immersing themselves in horsemanship and ranch life. From riding through the breathtaking dunes of White Sands National Park to experiencing the thrill of herding cattle, these students honed their equestrian skills while embracing the rugged beauty of the Southwest.
Beyond the hands-on ranch experience, the trip became a meaningful Chatham Hall family reunion. The students had the special opportunity to connect with Povy Bigbee ’51 and were warmly welcomed by Sam and Diane Calhoun P ’03, ’09, ’11. Their hospitality extended to the next generation as well, as the students met Emily James ’03 (Alumnae Council President) and Susannah Calhoun ’09, reinforcing the deep bonds of the Chatham Hall community across generations.
A heartfelt thank you to the Calhoun family, especially Povy, for their incredible hospitality and to the Armstrong family for generously sharing their extensive knowledge and passion for ranch life. This trip was not only an exciting learning experience but also a testament to the enduring connections within the Chatham Hall alumnae network.
