Musical Notes Across Generations: A Chatham Hall Collaboration

Dr. Francis Yun and alumna Tish Berlin ’78 celebrated Chatham Hall’s legacy with a Christmas Eve performance alongside the North Carolina Baroque Orchestra.
This past Christmas Eve, Chatham Hall’s Director of Music, Dr. Francis Yun, had the unique opportunity to collaborate with alumna and accomplished recorder player Tish Berlin ’78, showcasing the enduring connection between Chatham Hall and its talented community.

The two musicians joined forces as part of the North Carolina Baroque Orchestra, performing at the First Presbyterian Church in Statesville, North Carolina. The program featured a stunning repertoire of Baroque masterpieces, including works by Telemann, Lully, and Delalande.

“She spoke with such affection for the school, and we had a lovely time talking and playing together,” Yun fondly recalls, emphasizing the shared bond that transcends generations.

Berlin’s successful career as a professional recorder player reflects the foundation of excellence and creativity that Chatham Hall instills in its students. Moments like these not only highlight the global impact of Chatham Hall alumnae but also serve as a reminder of the lifelong connections fostered through music and shared experiences.

This collaboration celebrates the harmonious blend of tradition and innovation—a testament to Chatham Hall's enduring commitment to nurturing talent and creating a supportive, interconnected community.
